A durable, long-wearing everyday outdoor boot for active outdoor people who want Meindl's build quality and Gore-Tex® waterproofing in a versatile, naturally moving boot built to handle years of daily trail, town, and all-purpose outdoor use.
The EuroLight Hiker is Meindl's everyday outdoor boot for people who want something built to last. Not a technical boot. Not a trail racer. A well-made, dependable, comfortable outdoor boot that holds up through the kind of everyday use, trails, errands, weekend walks, yard work, anything outdoors, that most boots aren't really designed for.
The waxed full grain nubuck leather upper is the foundation of what makes the EuroLight Hiker last. Tougher than standard nubuck, it handles regular wear and variable weather without breaking down, building a patina of character over years of use instead of just looking worn out. The Duo-DUR III sole provides durable, reliable grip across the diverse surfaces of everyday outdoor use, not aggressive enough to feel out of place on a sidewalk, not passive enough to let you down on a trail.
Flex channels in the sole allow for more natural foot movement than a conventional hiking boot outsole, reducing the stiff, flat feel that makes some outdoor boots tiring over long everyday wear. The A/B light flex rating adds to the natural, low-fatigue character of the boot, and Gore-Tex® waterproof lining ensures your feet stay dry across the wet conditions that four-season everyday outdoor use reliably involves.
At 7.5 inches tall on a standard last with an Air Active insole, and handcrafted in Germany to Meindl's exacting standards, the EuroLight Hiker is the everyday boot that earns its place by simply being reliable, comfortable, and built to last. The best gear is the kind that just works and this does.
No intentionally added PFAS chemicals.
I have been wearing your boots since 1999, the Cabelas days. Every pair that I have purchased are unbelievably durable and waterproof. But....I have never been able to cinche them up tight enough because of your design. The eyelets are too close together to allow a tight cinche. I'm over 20 pairs deep with Miendle and still can't cinche my boots tight enough for proper support
80 years old still walk in the mts around salmon Idaho great ankle support boot is firm and flexible love it
Boots are well made. Staff I spoke with on the phone was very helpful
These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn!
I heard about Meindl while trekking in Nepal with a German doctor. My boots were falling apart and she told me all about this well designed boot from Germany called Meindl. Since I was going back to Nepal (and also Peru) to do more trekking, I wanted a boot which would not fall apart, so I purchased the Meindl Makalu Pro for my next trek. A heavy duty boot which could even do crampons, though I was just trekking so my pair would not see that.
Hiking in the US, I also purchased a pair of Perfekts. Once they became worn after a decade plus of hiking, instead of resoling them I decided on the Eurolight hikers. I am older now and may or may not get back to Nepal with my Makalu Pros. In the meantime, the Eurolight hikers is the perfect boot for domestic hiking, far lighter than the Makalu Pro and waterproof like all Meindl boots.
I expect nothing less than top quality in boots, as I have learned that inferior boots can make an 8 hour hike feel like a 20 hour hike. For me, there is only one boot, and that is Meindl.

At Meindl we know that quality boots are a significant investment. That is why we are so committed to educating our customers on the best methods of care to make sure your boots continue to perform at their peak and last for years to come.
All Meindl Boots come out of the factory treated and ready for you to get out. However, if you want to ensure the boots are in peak condition from the moment you hit the field you can give them a quick treatment with our Meindl Wet Proof and let that sit for 24 hours and then apply Meindl Sport Wax.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT heat Sport Wax before applying. Doing so can cause it to penetrate too deep and impair the leather’s breathability and wearing comfort. DO NOT apply oils or grease on any of our boots. There are two reasons: First, oil and grease products can cause boots to lose strength and stability. Second, oil or grease will migrate throughout the leather which can cause the rand and outsoles to delaminate from the boot.
Quality boots deserve care and attention. Read our full article to learn how to maintain your Meindl boots from beginning to end.
