Meindl's most legendary boot — a Norwegian Welt constructed alpine hiking boot with military cowhide leather and triple stitching, built for serious alpinists and mountain hikers who want the most technically demanding and historically proven boot in the lineup.

Some boots are products. The Super Perfekt is a legend. A staple in the Meindl lineup for generations, it is the boot that defines what Meindl stands for. Craftsmanship without compromise. Materials chosen for longevity over cost. Construction methods that have stood the test of time because nothing better has come along to replace them. If you know Meindl, you know the Super Perfekt. If you don't know it yet, you're about to.

Norwegian Welt construction is the foundation of everything the Super Perfekt is. The most demanding welted construction method in traditional bootmaking, it involves hand-stitching the upper outward before it is folded down and attached to the sole, a technique that creates an exceptionally strong, weather-resistant bond between upper and sole, and produces a boot that can be resoled repeatedly without losing structural integrity. Triple stitching reinforces every seam. The result is not just a boot built to last. It's a boot built to last long enough to become a family heirloom.

Military cowhide leather is the upper material of choice for serious reason. Tougher, denser, and more weather-resistant than standard boot leather, it handles the alpine conditions — cold, wet, abrasive rock — that destroy lesser materials over time. Full leather lining completes the picture, a natural, breathable interface between boot and foot that gradually molds to your exact foot shape over years of wear, building a personalized fit that becomes as distinctive as the boot itself.

At 8.75 inches tall with a D ultra-stiff flex rating, the Super Perfekt is built for classic alpine hiking on serious terrain. It is not a casual boot. It is not trying to be. It is the boot for the alpinist, the serious mountain hiker, and anyone who understands that the right tool for the hardest job is always the one built specifically for it. Handcrafted in Germany on a standard last with an Air Active insole. There are boots. And then there is the Super Perfekt.

The Super Perfekt Hiking Boot is built for maximum-support hiking and demanding terrain, designed to deliver a highly stable and protective feel across steep, rugged, and variable conditions. It provides a structured, secure fit from the first step with a short break-in period typical for a heavy-duty hiking boot.

Begin by wearing the boots during short conditioning hikes or low-intensity outdoor use to confirm fit and allow the system to begin adapting to your foot. Adjust lacing to achieve a firm, locked-in hold through the midfoot and ankle, ensuring strong heel retention and overall stability on uneven ground.

From there, gradually increase time on foot across longer hikes and more challenging terrain, allowing the boot to adapt progressively under real movement and load. This step-by-step use helps the upper and support structure settle naturally while maintaining maximum stability and protection. The leather-lined construction will gradually soften and conform to the shape of your foot with consistent wear, creating a more personalized and comfortable fit over time. Any initial stiffness will ease over the first several outings, resulting in a highly supportive hiking boot that continues to refine its comfort, precision, and performance in demanding conditions.

Nubuck leather benefits from consistent care to preserve its durability, breathable structure, and water-resistant performance over time. After use, allow the boots to dry naturally before removing surface dirt with a soft brush to keep the leather clean and ready for treatment.

Once prepared, apply the Meindl Wet Proof Spray evenly across the entire upper, ensuring full but light coverage so the treatment can absorb properly into the material. Allow the boots to dry completely before moving to the next step.

After drying, apply Meindl Sport Wax to the leather, tongue, and eyelets. Work the wax gently into the leather to reinforce protection while maintaining flexibility and comfort under movement.

This combination of spray and wax helps maintain the balance between weather resistance, breathability and long-term durability, keeping the leather performing consistently through regular use in varied conditions.

    The Next Step

I wore Asolo TPS 520's for about 20 years, one pair about every three years. I was concerned that the soles started to separate from the boot prematurely and read that others were having this issue. This set me out to look for a great boot with the soles sewn on rather than glued. I came across Meindl Super ******* but it was during covid and none were available. I went with the Zamberlan Sella GTX (or whatever model they had three years ago) with full leather uppers, double stitched sole. work great and over the last three years have been happy with them for the most part. Soles are warn down to about nothing and they now squeak, and I could have had them re-soled but still wanted to try the Meindl's. I looked and used their measuring tool and still in my size, none were available. I used their system to notify me when my size was in and it worked great. When they finally arrived, wow, these boots were in another category. Sure, similar construction, but everything is done to the next level of detail and quality. Even though the two boots are similar in price, the Super *******'s right out of the box seemed to surpass the cost comparable to the quality of the materials and the execution of the work crafting them into an amazing work of art.

Now in the break-in period, think ski boots, they are heavy and stiff but after one full week, the leather is beginning to work it self to my foot. Think Hockey Skate, you will need to have some quality time in them to fit just right.…

    Extremely Well Built Boots.

I tried to read as many reviews on the super ******* hiker as I could before making g the investment, however, there were not many reviews out there. I read a few that made me decide to make the jump and so far I’m glad I did. They are slightly heavier than the comfort fit hikers I have owned. (2 pair) but have a tread that will last far longer. The width is wide and fits like an EE. It is perfect for me and does not squish my foot. I have been trying to get my feet to widen out over the last 5 years or so and these boots do not constrict.

I had read a review that said these were extremely hard to break in but I put them on mid day on the first day I picked them up and continued wearing them full time throughout the week doing construction. My feet were a bit achy and sore by the end of each day but they felt better and better each day. I finally went hunting in them after about two weeks and climbed some very steep/rocky terrain. They are very solid boots with amazing ankle support. The weight was somewhat noticeable but the support and protection felt worth it. I weigh 285 lbs and wear a size 13 us and agree with other reviews that if you are over 200lbs just get them. They will break in nicely and the rigidity isn’t bad at all for all around use when you are a bigger man.
