Meindl may have been born in the mountains, but their roots are also sunk deep along the great walking paths of Europe. That heritage goes into every pair of footwear they make, including these casual walkers. Full grain waxed nubuck leather uppers are backed by 100% waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex. Built around the Comfort Fit concept for a roomy, heel-hugging fit complete with a custom-like cork insole. Meindl Multigrip outsoles are grippy enough for the trail, but cushion against concrete just as well. Also available in a women's style Lady Comfort Fit® Siena Walker. Made in Italy
If your daily hikes take you up the trail or just down the block to the corner coffee shop, these casual walkers are for you. They’re equally at home in both environments, with the cushioning combination of Multigrip outsole, Comfort Fit insole and shock-absorbing Poron pads in between. Oh, and they’re completely waterproof too, so no worries about wet feet.
I am very pleased with these walking shoes. I have had several pairs of Meindl boots over the years and have been very pleased with comfort and performance. These are my first Meindl shoes and they did not disappoint. I ordered a half size down from my usual shoe size and the fit was perfect. The shoes did take wearing a few times to break in as the leather was a bit stiff. However, after a couple days, they are extremely comfortable. The sole and last are well made and appear very durable. Overall, they are great shoes for both on the trail and in town.
Love these shoes! Very sturdy and comfortable. Gave 4 stars because of sizing issues. They're just a little too wide. Returned my first pair for half size smaller which helped because the toes are very roomy, but they're a bit too wide. I'll just have to wear beefier socks. No big deal.
These were quality built shoes. My only complaint was the thin insole. The heal wasn't to bad but the thinness of the toe area made it feel like you were walking on cement. I replaced them with a quality insole and back in business.
A few months ago I bought my first ever pair of Meindl Comfort Fit Walkers, and I loved them so much that I just bought a second pair. The craftsmanship is evident from the moment you take them out of the box. They are without doubt the most comfortable walking shoes I've found in a long time. (As other manufacturers like Keen get skimpier and skimpier with their materials, trying to hit a price point and maximize profits.)
A few suggestions:
These shoes would look significantly less "dorky" if (A) the entire midsole were black rather than light gray color and (B) the lining were black or dark brown rather than a very light tan. These small changes would make them look less like athletic wear and more like a tasteful casual all-occasion shoe that you could just as easily wear to the office as on a hike.
I would love to have the option of a non-Goretex version. For situations not requiring complete waterproofness this would make them more breathable and a bit cooler in hot weather.
Other than those small quibbles, they are wonderful! Meindl: please don't ever stop making these!
First pair. Great Meindl product as expected
At Meindl we know that quality boots are a significant investment. That is why we are so committed to educating our customers on the best methods of care to make sure your boots continue to perform at their peak and last for years to come.
All Meindl Boots come out of the factory treated and ready for you to get out. However, if you want to ensure the boots are in peak condition from the moment you hit the field you can give them a quick treatment with our Meindl Wet Proof and let that sit for 24 hours and then apply Meindl Sport Wax.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT heat Sport Wax before applying. Doing so can cause it to penetrate too deep and impair the leather’s breathability and wearing comfort. DO NOT apply oils or grease on any of our boots. There are two reasons: First, oil and grease products can cause boots to lose strength and stability. Second, oil or grease will migrate throughout the leather which can cause the rand and outsoles to delaminate from the boot.
Quality boots deserve care and attention. Read our full article to learn how to maintain your Meindl boots from beginning to end.
