Had a last minute invite to hunt pheasant in S.D.
Need a pair of water proof boots that didn’t require to be broken in. I walked about 20 miles with zero problems to my feet. The traction is exceptional while maneuvering through row corn and dodging badger holes. If your looking for a boot that has instant comfort, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
I liked the boots, the break in period was short. The comfort was good. But when I encounter wet snowy weather my left foot got wet immediately, which meant I had 2 days of wet feet. I was definitely disappointed, to have bought these boots. My hunting partners all had dry feet during the hunt.

I just purchased my first pair of Melinda boots and I can say with confidence this won’t be my last for two reasons; customer service and quality. I am a lifelong avid hunter that has worn some of the “best” boots made from around the world. Meindl is my new fav. I ended up sending back the Comfort Fit Hunter because it was just a tad too wide in the toe box for me. My foot is normal width and I’m used to a more snug fit. If your foot is any bit wider than normal, you will probably like the Hunter. Customer service was AWESOME and they got me into the Vakuum instead. To me, the Vakuum is a snugger fit in the tow box, a tad shorter in height, and a tad more supportive than the Hunter. I think the Vakuum will treat me better when I’m sidehilling on my hunts here in ID. If you have not bought Meindl boots before, I encourage you to try them out. Dan with customer service made sure I was fully satisfied with my purchase. I wish I would have given Meindl a try sooner.
Seems to be a great boot so far. They will take some break-in time, but I expected that. Definitely not the feel of an athletic shoe. I've spent three days in the field chasing pheasants through the sloughs and CRP fields of South Dakota. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I don't know how long they will last.
Great Boots glad I found them!
We want your Meindl footwear to not only fit your feet but also your outdoor lifestyle. No matter where you are or what you are exploring, it is critical your footwear fits properly. Our boots and shoes are constructed using different manufacturing techniques and different lasts (forms) which helps us tailor our boots and shoes to excel in different environments.
The construction technique and last we select to build each style can make that particular boot or shoe fit differently, even within our own line of products, which is why it is important for you to follow our fitting guidelines to get you into the correct size.Because the last and the manufacturing technique we use can change the way our footwear fits, Meindl USA gives guidance for proper fitting on each style we sell. All of our sizing recommendations are based off the Brannock measuring device, which is why it is critical to have your foot measured using that device.
We collectively have decades of experience fitting Meindl footwear to the person and activity, so our fitting guidelines come with the knowledge needed to ensure you get the correct fit.At Meindl we know that quality boots are a significant investment. That is why we are so committed to educating our customers on the best methods of care to make sure your boots continue to perform at their peak and last for years to come.
All Meindl Boots come out of the factory treated and ready for you to get out. However, if you want to ensure the boots are in peak condition from the moment you hit the field you can give them a quick treatment with our Meindl Wet Proof and let that sit for 24 hours and then apply Meindl Sport Wax.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT heat Sport Wax before applying. Doing so can cause it to penetrate too deep and impair the leather’s breathability and wearing comfort. DO NOT apply oils or grease on any of our boots. There are two reasons: First, oil and grease products can cause boots to lose strength and stability. Second, oil or grease will migrate throughout the leather which can cause the rand and outsoles to delaminate from the boot.
Quality boots deserve care and attention. Read our full article to learn how to maintain your Meindl boots from beginning to end.
