When your plans take you into the roughest backcountry or on a multi-day backpacking adventure where there will be challenging terrain and obstacles, use enough boot. These uninsulated mountain boots are constructed to get you there and back without you having to worry about your feet. Construction starts with full grain, nubuck leather uppers that provide a high level of support and are backed by waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex® to keep moisture out while allowing perspiration vapor to escape. (Gore-Tex® Stretch lines the heel area without any blister - or hot spot-causing seams.) Internal protection comes from the MFS® (Memory Foam System) that wraps your entire foot in a cushioning custom-like fit. There's also an Air Active® Insole that provides a cushioned moisture-managing footbed that wicks perspiration away from your feet and distributes weight across the entire foot. Another thing we like in these hardcore hikers is the DiGAfix® lacing system that snugs the upper around your instep without creating pressure points, plus it locks your heel in place so there's not friction-and blister-causing hotspots. Traction comes from the Meindl-exclusive Vibram® Multigriff Alpin rigid rubber grip outsole that provides a stable, secure walking platform, especially on the difficult terrain, thanks to aggressive, multi-directional lugs that grab and grip even on uneven terrain and in difficult conditions. These are all-terrain, four season hikers, fully capable of taking on the worst conditions. And they are crampon compatible if the going gets even tougher. Also available in a women's style Lady Himalaya MFS®. Made in Germany
"If you are looking for a serious mountain boot to take you into the backcountry look no further. These boots are built for all types of terrain and weather, fully crampon compatible. And packed with all Meindl's technology to keep your feet protected no matter the obstacles."
Been buying Meindl boots for 25 years!
Hike 14eeners hunt Elk ect. Everyone still trys to copy them no luck. Stick with Meindl!
Comfortable, great protection for the ankles and of course toes. My second pair.
The black rubber strip around the shoe started coming out on my first trek.Very unlike a Meindl.
It has been repaired but with no guarantee that it will not recur.
Going for a trek next month and keeping fingers crossed.
Excellent construction great fit after breaking in ready for the trails
I’m am delighted with these boots. Essentially no break in required. They are my second pair. I have hundreds of miles on my first pair and they are still fine; but I decided to buy a new pair for some serious upcoming treks: a 3 day then a 6 day hut to hut trek in Tasmania and then a two week trek of the Manaslu Circuit in Nepal. With challenging terrain and substantial packs, I am confident that my boots will be easily up to the task. Thanks!
At Meindl we know that quality boots are a significant investment. That is why we are so committed to educating our customers on the best methods of care to make sure your boots continue to perform at their peak and last for years to come.
All Meindl Boots come out of the factory treated and ready for you to get out. However, if you want to ensure the boots are in peak condition from the moment you hit the field you can give them a quick treatment with our Meindl Wet Proof and let that sit for 24 hours and then apply Meindl Sport Wax.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT heat Sport Wax before applying. Doing so can cause it to penetrate too deep and impair the leather’s breathability and wearing comfort. DO NOT apply oils or grease on any of our boots. There are two reasons: First, oil and grease products can cause boots to lose strength and stability. Second, oil or grease will migrate throughout the leather which can cause the rand and outsoles to delaminate from the boot.
Quality boots deserve care and attention. Read our full article to learn how to maintain your Meindl boots from beginning to end.
