These uninsulated professional-grade boots were inspired by and are built for military and law-enforcement personnel, the kind of professionals who rush forward when the going gets tough. That said, they are also a great choice for any lifestyle, whether it's duty, work or recreation. They are not for heavy packing but are ideal for carrying light to medium loads, like a tactical pack. These boots are designed to breathe to provide ventilation in hot, dry environments and to manage moisture, moving any and all moisture - whether perspiration or water you slog through - efficiently to the outside. To be clear, these boots are not waterproof, but are designed to manage moisture from inside grout to maximize comfort. The lightweight suede leather uppers feature Cordura nylon inserts, a lightweight, durable pairing that provides a functional combination of flexibility and support, so much so they are great for running and high-speed movement. Same goes for the Meindl-exclusive Vibram® Multigrip outsoles which combines traction, flex and durability to help keep you sure-footed at any speed. Plus, an integrated compression zone at the ankle provides support, comfort and flexibility without compromising the secure fit. The Air Active memory foam footbed molds to your feet to cushion and evenly distribute weight. Reinforced heel and toe add protection from wear and abrasion. Made in Bosnia
"If you are looking for a professional-grade boots inspired and built for military personnel look no further. These Boots are the perfect choice for an active lifestyle, whether it's work or recreation."
First time Meindl user. I used to wear Lowa (Zephyr) exclusively over the part 2-decades. The primary decision to move to Meindl was the repairable soles as I had to replace shoes due to soles wearing out every 12-14 months. While I will wait to see how the sole does on the Desert Fox, the fit is superb, and it took just about a week to break in. The quality looks top notch, but I was expecting that from Meindl. I ended up getting 3-pairs, just so that I do not have to buy any more shoes for the next decade. The level of moisture wicking is less than the Zephyr, but that is not too much of an issue. I wear the boots with the Darn Tough T3006 socks with liners. For those who are migrating from Lowa Zephyr to Desert Fox, go one full size smaller.
Regarding customer service, it was top notch. I had an issue with Meindl initially shipping via USPS as tracking is quite iffy, so they ended up changing the shipment to UPS. Many thanks for that.
I love everything about these boots. But after only one month of fieldwork, I can see where the sole is already separating away from the boot. Separation on the sides near the heel. Very disappointing as they are not cheap and it's obvious this only going to get worse. This should not be happening to any boots after only one month.
Hey all,
I just had my first experience purchasing from Meindl, and figured I’d share.
I normally wear a size US Men’s 9.5 in my zamberlan and scarpa boots, but in Meindl I discovered I am a 9 - 8.5
It seems the Meindls run 1/2 size - 1 full size larger than other lasts, but have good width, and with this fit I don’t have any heel slippage.
For context I bought the Desert Fox Duty Boot for use in hot climates, since all my other boots are goretex full-grain leather and I get swamp foot.
I ordered UPS next day air, and it ended up taking 4 days to finally arrive. When it did arrive the package was clearly waterlogged, and the cardboard shows lots of exposure to water.
Thankfully, the actual boots were only slightly damp, so I didn’t feel a need to ask for replacement.
Anyone who has dealt with UPS knows that their customer service is straight garbage, and it takes 20-30 mins just to get an actual person on the phone. So I called Meindl directly instead and told them the situation. They immediately refunded the shipping costs and told me they would work it out with UPs directly. I sent in photo proof of the wet package just to make their case a bit easier, but they didn’t ask for that, and made the experience very easy.
Their reps are also very knowledgeable about the fit and form of their boots, everything from how the boot should fit, to how to care for the different types of leather.
To top it off, the boots are top notch and very sturdy. I expect years of…
These boots look better in person! Great fit, comfortable right out of the box, very little break-in. I attempted to go with the 1/2 smaller recommendation but went with size of boots that I typically wear and it was a true fit for me. I also appreciate that they come with the correct size/length of shoestrings! The sticker and thank you card is a nice touch too! Responses to my emails and queries was very quick and informative. Great Boots, Great Service! THANK Y OU!
While in Afghanistan I got a pair of these boots from the British. They were the most comfortable boots that I wore during my deployment
At Meindl we know that quality boots are a significant investment. That is why we are so committed to educating our customers on the best methods of care to make sure your boots continue to perform at their peak and last for years to come.
All Meindl Boots come out of the factory treated and ready for you to get out. However, if you want to ensure the boots are in peak condition from the moment you hit the field you can give them a quick treatment with our Meindl Wet Proof and let that sit for 24 hours and then apply Meindl Sport Wax.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT heat Sport Wax before applying. Doing so can cause it to penetrate too deep and impair the leather’s breathability and wearing comfort. DO NOT apply oils or grease on any of our boots. There are two reasons: First, oil and grease products can cause boots to lose strength and stability. Second, oil or grease will migrate throughout the leather which can cause the rand and outsoles to delaminate from the boot.
Quality boots deserve care and attention. Read our full article to learn how to maintain your Meindl boots from beginning to end.
